ITS SHOWTIME!!!!!

By Doug Cronk, Motorcycle Representative

Well a year has flown by and it's time for our Shepton Mallet show. It was a good weekend that went something like this. Thursday evening telephone round and check that all is ready with everyone. All appears to be OK and everyone is looking forward to the show.

Friday morning it's up early to load up the truck with all the gear for the stand. Say good-bye to her indoors and head off to pick up Colin Archer who lends us loads of gear for the stand. "Thanks Colin". When loading the bike the telephone rings and it's an over zealous Ian Campbell who had arrived at the show about 2 hours early! He's very excitable!

When we arrive at the show, Ian and Martin Garret have laid the floor tiles. As the bikes arrive it's all hands on deck as the stand takes shape. Everyone is happy with the way it has turned out and it is time to go home.

Saturday morning arrives and when we arrive the tea urn is boiling thanks to Colin Baker who is staying over in his motor home. The stand causes a lot of interest and we seem overrun with visitors who all have a question to ask. A surprise visitor was our new editor and his intrepid reporter Bob Rees who managed to sniff out the food but no stories! At the end of the day all agreed it was a success.

Sunday was not as busy as Saturday but still a lot of interest and at the end of the day all that remained was to break down the stand and look forward to next year.

I should like to thank all those who displayed a bike, without whom there would be no show. Now for some special thanks, first to Kevin Randall who supplied us with fresh bacon rolls cooked in his motor home. Also a big thank you to the following ladies - Tibbs Axon and Margaret Burgess who kept us supplied with home baked scones covered in jam also savory cheese ones, loads of sausage rolls and cheese straws. Sorry to say there was no fruitcake. Perhaps next year?

All in all a great weekend and thank you all.
